Not yet Match fit...

A really good weekend's digging.

Not yet fully fit though - spent more time stretching the back than bending it. Although I did find at one point that it was less painful to keep stooped over & digging than actually standing up straight.

But the weather was lovely for digging - cool & frosty, but sunny and warm on the back. There hasn't been much wetness for the last 10 days either, so the soil was nice and crumbly; if not quite dry.

Anyway, bed 3 is dug, manured and covered.....

Bed 2 is dug & covered (no horse muck, but this was the bed with the best show of green manure (forage peas). The back end will be un-manured for carrots & parsnips)
The glass covered section has been manured and will be the new strawberry bed.

Beds 5 & 6 have all been turned over & manured, but will need another couple of digs to get rid of the twitch; these were the new beds last year and due to the crap potato season last year, haven't really grown anything as yet.

And this is the lunch that Lizzie brought for me...............
I do like hearing the whistle from the gate, especially when it means a butty is on its way down to me. (Sometimes, there's even a Ginger Beer in the bag!)
