Today's achievement, with thanks to the sister-in-law, is muddleberry jam (although the name if choice will clearly be muggleberry).
It's a mix of strawberries, blackcurrants and raspberries - no shortage of flavour there then.
The strawberries are a valuable commodity due to the direct competition I have over them with the mice. I reckon I'm on about 75% yield up to now as I'm throwing away so many that have been nibbled. I've decided to grow a new batch next tear that has a different growing habit- more lofty and vertical so that the fruit is off the floor and more difficult to get to.
It said on tonight's news that June was the wettest on record. (july isn't looking so good either and its only the second day.) but because of the rain, another problem I'm having is that the fruit is rotting. Like I said, strawberries are a valuable, and diminishing commodity.
