Nice weekend

For a number of reasons, September was a bit rubbish, but this weekend was a lovely, cathartic start to October.
A lovely sunny weekend at the caravan. A walk to Elterwater, a couple of pints whilst sat in the sun. Lots of lovely food and a little bit of Argentinian Malbec. Rounded off nicely by a lengthy perusal of the seed catalogue for next season.

Now it's down to action and I spent a couple of hours at the plot today, starting the big clear out.... Getting rid, chopping down and chopping up. Wiping the page clean, ready to draw new pictures next year. Quite exciting really.

The corn was a nice surprise - I honestly thought that the ears weren't developed enough to eat, but these were quite good. Not a fantastic yield ; probably less than one decent cob for each stalk planted, but still the best yield of corn to date.
I was ready to draw a line through sweet corn, but I might just give it another go next year.
