Big Fat Pumpkin

There was a very hard sudden frost at the weekend (21/09) which caught the pumpkins in the more exposed 1/2 plot. I wasn't sure whether to leave them on the withering vine in case they started to rot back, so I took the big ones off and left the ones that were still green attached so that i can see which fares best.

The big'un though, is 30 pounds of halloween fun.

I had a few spare courgette plants, so I let them grow on and Lizzie had the idea of scoring words into the skin. The thicker writing was gouged, but this might have been too deep as the scars look as though they could easily split. i think I prefer the thinner writing that was scored with a sharp knife.
