Had a scorcher of a day on the allotment yesterday with some help from my nephew Ted.
We started with a list of jobs & cracked them off in good style. All the jobs at this end of the year seem to be either harvesting (raspberries and blackberries are especially good & sweet at the minute, & the pumpkins are just about ready).
But I'm also in the frame of mind to be looking at next year's plans, so all the plants are looking at me warily as they know they're only one step away from the compost heap.
We pulled out peas, we picked beans, we sorted pots. We picked juicy berries, we hoed & raked & most importantly we drank tea & ate flapjack.
We had to leave when the sun got too hot, and today we've got our faces pressed against the rainy window so we can nip back & get some daffodil bulbs in.
A cracker of a day; thanks for the help Ted.
D.
